"The first stones of a building are the most important." Negotiations for the approval of the next General State Budgets have already begun, Podemos has warned the PSOE, its government partner, that the future of the coalition is conditioned on the deployment of "an ambitious social and democratic deepening agenda."

"The Government is gambling its re-election," said the Secretary General of Los

Morados

and Minister of Social Rights, Ione Belarra,

harshly on Friday

. In Podemos, aware of the downward trend of the Executive in the polls and the wear that the rise in the price of electricity is supposing, they believe that it is not enough to face a recovery stage after the pandemic, but that it is convenient to open a period of "rebuilding on new foundations" and addressing "structural changes" to move from a "welfare state that pursues dignified lives" and reach "an ecosocial state", whose goal is "that people are happy and have good lives".

"It is not just a matter of leaving austerity policies behind," the minister stressed about the mark that the progressive coalition has already left in the Government, "but also of transforming our economic and productive system at the root" in order to, thus, "put it. at the service of care and the planet ".

If there is something that the pandemic has shown, the Minister of Social Rights has opined, it is that "neoliberal approaches" and "financial capitalism" are "exhausted." It is "evident", he emphasized. In Podemos, they consider that a period of "uncertain interregnum" is opening at this moment of recovery to be resolved "in a democratic and progressive key." Thus, Belarra has asked the PSOE to "look in the mirror" of the reconstruction stage after World War II.

A project, to address these "structural changes", which must be born, believe the purple, from the next General State Budgets, which are already being negotiated. In this sense, Belarra has once again put pressure on the socialists with the need to regulate rental prices, as both partners promised, to unblock the future Housing Law. "It would not be logical to approach this negotiation without the agreements closed last year already being a reality," the leader of Podemos, who has chaired the first State Citizen Council of the party this Friday after the summer, has influenced.

Signing fair State accounts focused on the social agenda will be "essential" to "lay the foundations for the reconstruction of our country on new foundations."

The problem of electricity and rent are "perfect symbols", in Belarra's eyes, of the necessary paradigm shift that Spain needs.

But it is not the only demand from the PSOE.

It will be "crucial", he warned, to address a "fair" tax reform, as the party has been demanding for months: a minimum tax of 15% on large companies, eliminating the so-called

pink tax

on certain female products or ending the VAT on establishments such as hairdressers.

It is not the only request that Belarra has raised in her speech.

We can, to complete its transformative mission, will continue to demand the repeal of the gag law or the approval of a law on official secrets.
