A truck on the ailing Salzbachtal Bridge has been stirring people's minds for weeks.
The so-called bridge viewing device is on the blocked structure and was not allowed to be driven away due to the risk of collapse.
For a long time it looked as if the truck and the bridge would be blown up.
On Friday evening, however, a spokesman for the Autobahn GmbH announced that the special vehicle, which cost around 700,000 euros, was to be recovered in the next week.
A special crane is used to lift the truck from the bridge.
At the Salzbachtalbrücke, the spokesman continued, the emergency stabilization has now been completed.
The railway lines and overhead lines under the bridge are now being secured, as are the surrounding buildings and the sewage treatment plant.
Duds are also searched for on the tracks.
A date for the demolition of the bridge has not yet been finally set: It will probably be the beginning of November.
