- We see that among those who are infected in the elderly, it is very often unvaccinated staff in nursing homes who take it to work and infect their patients.

That is why it is so important that we have a high degree of vaccination in our staff groups, said Mikael Johansson (M), chairman of the regional board.

Bo Frank (M) and Eva Johnsson (KD) agreed and expressed their frustration that not all healthcare staff have been vaccinated.

The region cannot by law force staff to get vaccinated.

Region Dalarna will investigate whether it is possible to refuse to employ staff who are unvaccinated against covid 19. Region Kronoberg is waiting for what the investigation shows.

"The risk is greater"

There are also people who for medical reasons cannot be vaccinated, but Mikael Johansson (M) points out that it is not them that the debate is about, but those who do not want to be vaccinated.

But you can spread the infection even if you are vaccinated.

- You can still be infected, but the risk is greater if you are unvaccinated.

And we see that an infection comes into place and then the infection is passed on, that is how our infection search works and therefore we can say that this is exactly the case, says Mikael Johansson (M).

"Maybe heard some myth"

There is a risk that there will be conflicts in workplaces between vaccinated and unvaccinated people.

What do you think about it?

- The risk exists but I hope you can take it as a basis for discussion.

That you actually discuss the pros and cons at work.

Someone may have heard a myth that is not true and then it is good if you have a discussion at work, he says.

The Swedish Medical Ethics Council, SMER, believes that health care personnel have a moral obligation to be vaccinated against covid-19.

"The patient's / user's interest in minimizing the risk of infection outweighs the employee's individual choice to be vaccinated or not."
