The boss of LR deputies, Damien Abad, estimated that the polemicist Eric Zemmour was "a grenade unpinning" aimed at "blowing up the right", Thursday during the parliamentary days of LR in Nimes.

"Everyone has understood (...) that Eric Zemmour is a media chimera, a detached grenade which has only one objective: to explode the right", assured Mr. Abad in a speech, while the polemicist multiplies the signals suggesting that he could declare himself a presidential candidate.

Mr. Abad also estimated that "the RN is the best life insurance for the re-election of Emmanuel Macron" and predicted that Marine Le Pen "will never be elected President of the Republic".

"Let us not fall into the rude trap of inviting ourselves to a table which is not ours," he said, calling for "the courage to embody a right that does not apologize for 'to be right-wing'.

While LR struggles to decide on the presidential candidate, he repeated his "doubts" about the organization of primaries, stressing that apart from the Greens, no other party would organize them.

"I would not want the primaries to be another wound for the right," he said, promising that the party would be united behind his candidate once he is chosen.
