China News Service, September 9th. According to the US "World Journal" report, in the United States, school has been back to school for some time, but due to the epidemic and anti-Asian wave, the safety of Asian students in school has caused concerns from the outside world.

"Education Trust-West", a non-profit organization focusing on education policy for minorities in the Bay Area, worked with UCLA to launch a report that pointed out bullying and harassment of Asians on campus under special circumstances.

The report pointed out that the epidemic has brought many challenges to students in elementary and middle schools.

However, in different ethnic groups, the challenges faced by students are also different.

Although there has been a significant increase in mainstream media coverage of anti-Asian racism, they rarely pay attention to the situation of Asian youths, and these youths are also affected by bullying and harassment.

In the 2019 California Healthy Kids Survey (California Healthy Kids Survey), compared with other ethnic groups, although Asian students generally believe that they feel safe in school, they are more vulnerable to bullying and harassment than any other ethnic group.

The survey is completed by the California Department of Education.

For example, most Asian students in seventh grade say they feel safe in school, but nearly half of them have been harassed or bullied in the past 12 months.

In particular, Asian teenagers are more likely to be harassed because of their ethnicity, gender, health, immigration status, and religious beliefs than other ethnic groups.

The report points out that this shows that although students may feel "physically" safe in school, they are not that safe emotionally and psychologically.

The report’s recommendations include expanding the collection of classified data on Asian and Pacific Islanders (AAPI), and more comprehensively analyzing school bullying, harassment, and victim data; in K-12 grades and various education departments, investment development is suitable for different Mental health resources and courses of ethnic culture; set up a special working group to analyze racism and xenophobia against Asian and Asian students.

Another report also explored the discrimination faced by Asians in higher education and the “exclusion” of Asian identities.
