“A criminal case has been initiated under Articles 236 (illegal acquisition, possession, carrying of firearms), 323 (terrorist act) and 329 (hostage-taking for terrorist purposes),” the ministry said.
Earlier, the Georgian Interior Ministry said that an armed man broke into a branch of the Bank of Georgia in the city of Kvareli in Kakheti.
He later released all the hostages.
