- This is a Mercedes from 2014, here a decent new convertible of the same brand and this Kian which is an electric car has only gone three to four miles, says Ricardo Forsman who is site manager at Ekman's car scrap yard in Hedesunda when we walk around the scrap yard. on the farm.

Almost new cars are scrapped

There are several almost new cars waiting to be picked apart.

From normally picking up about four cars a week, they have driven here 25 extra and 30 are waiting to be picked up at the moment.

And so it's just this car wreck's mission.

- We have had to bring in extra staff to keep up with everything, it is clear that it is good for us in a way, but it is sad to see such new cars that are actually undamaged must be dismantled and scrapped.

It is control boxes and such with electronics that make the car unusable, says Ricardo Forsman.

Water destroys most things

In many cases, it is enough for the water to find its way over the threshold to the door for the car to be unusable, then the scrap can pick up and reuse parts.

Where the whole car has been under water, it is different.

- This Volvo V60 has been completely under water in the middle of Gävle, it was full of mud and shit, it may have been wastewater that came in.

The only thing we can save are the doors and screens.

We can only throw away seats, instruments and other things, says Forsman.
