A 27-year-old paraglider lost his life last week in Chamonix (Haute-Savoie).

This instructor from the Saint-Gervais ski club was found unconscious below his starting point at the Aiguille du Midi on Thursday, September 2.

He finally died of his injuries the next day at the Annecy hospital center.

According to the men of the high mountain gendarmerie platoon, the circumstances which had led to the fall of the young trainer remained unclear.

The soldiers had initially raised the possibility of discomfort.

On Facebook, the Saint-Gervais ski club had announced the dramatic news and paid tribute to its coach, stressing "his jovial and fiery temperament", "his availability, his kindness and his involvement with the club and the children".

Friday September 3, another paraglider died in an accident, this time in the town of Saint-Sigismond.

The 24-year-old fell from 30 meters and violently hit the ground.

On Tuesday, a 31-year-old Spanish mountaineer died after reaching the summit of Mont-Blanc.

He fell 800 meters after unscrewing.
