Inspection teams in Dibba Al-Fujairah Municipality have seized 285 kilograms of expired foodstuffs unfit for consumption, and cosmetic and other consumables that do not conform to specifications, during the past two months. The seizures were destroyed, and violations were issued against non-compliant shops.

The municipality stated that the inspection teams carried out periodic and sudden visits to all shops and markets in the various areas of Dibba City and its affiliated areas, to ensure that they adhere to health requirements and follow the laws.

She explained that she had confiscated 179 kilograms of expired products last month, including 174 kilograms of foodstuffs, which were subjected to poor preservation and storage, and not fit for consumption, and five kilograms of expired cosmetics and consumables that do not conform to health conditions, and do not meet health requirements, while they were confiscated last July 110. Kilograms of expired food, 2.55 kilograms of cosmetics, and 8.5 kilograms of consumables.

The Director of Dibba Al-Fujairah Municipality, Engineer Hassan Al-Yamahi, stressed the need for shop owners to clarify the validity period of the products, in addition to securing them in appropriate conditions for storage, transportation and distribution.

He pointed out that the municipality is carrying out its inspection and awareness campaigns on food and health facilities in the city, to ensure their commitment to implementing health requirements, verifying the validity of foodstuffs provided to consumers, in addition to controlling the wrong health practices practiced by workers in those facilities, and providing advice and instructions and directing their workers to the best He explained that the penalties for violations ranged between a fine and temporary or permanent closure, depending on the size of the violation.

He stressed the municipality's keenness to organize awareness campaigns on a regular basis for food stores and customers, to introduce the latest methods used in the field of food preservation and storage, while continuing inspection campaigns on establishments, food and beverage stores, restaurants and bakeries, in order to ensure the health and lives of citizens and residents.

The Municipality destroyed the seizures and issued violations against non-compliant shops.
