Emmanuel Macron will close on September 14 the Beauvau of security, this national consultation launched in January on the police and the gendarmerie, announced Wednesday the Minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanin.

"The President of the Republic is speaking on September 14 in the framework of the Beauvau for security," said Mr. Darmanin on France Inter.

Asked by AFP, the Elysée did not respond immediately.

Announced at the end of 2020 by the Head of State in the midst of the controversy over police violence, this consultation, interrupted in the spring due to the health crisis and then regional and departmental elections, must lay the foundations for a future programming law for the internal security by 2022.

Since its launch, six round tables bringing together police unions, representatives of the gendarmerie, elected officials and external stakeholders have been organized on the themes of training and recruitment, supervision, police-population links, police-justice relations. , internal control and law enforcement.

A final round table, devoted to "material conditions and support and video capture", is to be held on September 13, Gerald Darmanin's entourage told AFP.
