Thursday afternoon, Emmanuel Macron will chair the national tribute to Jean-Paul Belmondo in the courtyard of the Invalides in Paris.

Relatives and personalities of the actor will attend the ceremony and a thousand places will be open to the general public in the corridors of the monument.

Three days after the death of French cinema icon Jean-Paul Belmondo at the age of 88, a national tribute will be paid to him on Thursday from 4:30 p.m. at the Invalides in Paris as announced by the Élysée.

First lady Brigitte Macron was invited to come to the actor's home on Tuesday where she spent more than an hour and a half alongside the Belmondo family.

A little later, the delegation of the protocol of the Elysee came to organize the details of the national tribute with the family of the actor.

This will be the 12th such ceremony chaired by the Head of State Emmanuel Macron.

A thousand places open to the general public

In total, the Élysée invited nearly 700 people to go to the Cour des Invalides.

The family of the actor and his relatives will be present as well as personalities from the world of cinema, sport and politics.

A thousand places will also be open to the general public in the corridors of the monument.

Everyone can come to the entrance without registration with a valid health pass.

Jean-Paul Belmondo's family wanted this tribute to be so popular.

For all the others who want to follow this national tribute, two giant screens will be installed outside on the lawns of the esplanade.

Emmanuel Macron will deliver a funeral eulogy in front of the artist's coffin, followed by the ringing of the dead, a minute of silence and the Marseillaise played by the orchestra of the Republican Guard.

An equally military tribute

This ceremony will also take place under the gaze of soldiers from the Army, Navy and Air Force.

Indeed, three years ago, Jean-Paul Belmondo was made Grand Officer of the Legion of Honor by Emmanuel Macron.

A distinction which allows this military tribute.

The artist's funeral will take place the next day, Friday, at 11 a.m., in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés church in Paris.
