Many in Elisabeth's residential area were hit hard in September 2015 when the rain fell mercilessly over Hallsberg.

She was gone during the night when most of the rain came.

- When I got home I had to wade on the street to the house, it was not possible to drive a car.

The neighbors asked if they would pick up a boat, it was surreal, she says.

Wanted compensation

Now follows a difficult period with many decisions to make.

The house was to be completely renovated, Elisabeth and the cat needed somewhere to live.

Still, she gathered strength to push issues against the municipality together with neighbors.

- We wondered, among other things, if we could be compensated for the deductible.

But we got no, she says and continues:

- My insurance did not cover the renovation cost of just over a million.

But I was lucky to have a job and be able to borrow.

Delay dust

In recent days, the municipality has begun construction of a dam that will delay large amounts of rain in the area where Elisabeth lives.

She thinks that it has taken far too long and she lacks information from the municipality about planned and taken measures.

- I regret it and understand that you experience that it takes a long time before something happens, but it takes a long time to carry out a construction like this dam, says Niklas Hasselwander, technical manager at Hallsberg municipality.

Mentally stressful

Having to leave her house head over heels has taken a heavy toll on Elisabeth.

She describes it as she fell on the hill.

The suites are still in.

- I am very tired and will probably sleep the rest of the day after the interview.

I no longer work, one reason is the traumatic situation of not having my home intact, she says.
