A motorist took the A35 motorway against the flow, Tuesday evening at the level of the town of Ensisheim (Haut-Rhin).

Shortly before 7 p.m., the septuagenarian embarked on the deceleration lane of the interchange, reports France Bleu Alsace.

His vehicle hit two others, the pile-up left two lightly injured, including the driver of the car in the wrong direction.

The A35 cut and traffic disrupted

According to

L'Alsace

, the septuagenarian would have taken the deceleration lane because access to the A35 from the departmental road RD2 is currently closed for works.

She would have crossed the zebras before reaching the highway.

The A35 was cut in the direction Mulhouse-Colmar until early evening, causing major traffic jams.

The situation was then restored after the intervention of the emergency services.

A week before this incident, the highway was also the scene of a collision between a heavy truck and three cars.

This accident had occurred just before the Rixheim interchange and had resulted in major traffic jams, says Actu Haut-Rhin.
