07 September 2021 "Today is a good day because we have just reached and slightly exceeded 80% of the first inoculations: it is an important milestone because it tells us that at the end of September we will reach 80% of the audience fully vaccinated or 43 million and 200 thousand citizens from 12 years and over who will complete the vaccination card ".

This was stated by the Commissioner for the Covid emergency Figliuolo on a visit to the Amazon vaccination hub in Passo Corese in the province of Rieti, in Lazio.

However, the General adds "There is concern about that million and 800 thousand citizens between 50-59 years not yet vaccinated and even if we have reached 82% of the first inoculations this may not be enough: my appeal is to these people even if there has been a resumption of the vaccination campaign in recent days with over 10 thousand first inoculations per day for this age group ".

Instead "On young people - underlines the General - we are having excellent results: out of 100 thousand first inoculations yesterday, 30% concerned the 12-19 year old group, overall the first inoculations are fine even if we are at 50 for 12-15 year olds. % of first doses but this is the last category for which the campaign has been activated so it is only a matter of timing ".

" We want

school

leave in presence. It is important for the social development of our young people who deserve it, also for a sense of fairness with respect to the many families who have difficulty in connecting. Then the school is a teacher of life ".

" On the over 80 we are instead over 95%: out of 4 million and 555 thousand there are 250 thousand missing, few countries in the world have achieved this result ", added Figliuolo.

And on the

third dose

of vaccine He responded: "we will start with the third dose in September for the immunocompromised, an audience of three million people, then you will follow on the elderly and health, and then we'll see."

on the possibility of introducing

the vaccine requirement

"I say that we must convince". "Decisions are made on the evidence - he adds - if we manage to scratch the hard core we take note of it, if we fail to do so and we reach a percentage where more needs to be done, the decision makers will know what to do".

And regarding the possibility that the

Green pass

will be eliminated after reaching a satisfactory quota of vaccinated, the general explains: "These are public health measures. If science says that public health is assured, choices will be made".

"What has been done is to make everyone feel better and to ensure that the generosity of those who have been vaccinated is not compromised by others who selfishly await the effects of no one knows what",  concludes Figliuolo.

"I renew once again the invitation to everyone to get vaccinated, because our country is very close to

herd immunity

; Lazio has just reached 80% of immunized people, at the national level this percentage will be reached within the month of September. This is why I turn to those who have not yet received the vaccine, in the hope that those who still have doubts will be convinced that the vaccine is necessary ".
