Last week, 174 new corona cases were found in the county.

This is an increase of 62 cases compared to the week before.

The increase is not something that surprises the infection control doctor Signar Mäkitalo.

- It was expected.

Many have connections to the school.

It is mainly about students and people who are not vaccinated, he says.

Difficult to reach all groups

At today's press conference, Region Sörmland also provided information on how vaccination coverage differs between different areas in Sörmland.

Vaccination coverage is at its lowest in the Eskilstuna districts Årby, Fröslunda, Lagersberg and Brandkärr in Nyköping.

There, only 30 to 40 percent have received two doses.

- There are people who have got a wrong picture of the vaccine and others who are just thoughtful.

We need to work to raise the vaccination rate, says Magnus Johansson, responsible for the vaccination program in Region Sörmland.

Only half received a second dose

But it was not only in vulnerable areas where vaccination coverage is low.

In Strängnäs, Flen and Gnesta, there are several areas where only half have received a second dose.

- It is necessary to make an analysis and go deeper into these residential areas to understand what it is that we have missed, says Signar Mäkitalo.

In the clip above, the infection control doctor tells what types of measures the region is taking to reach groups that have not yet been vaccinated.
