Since 2017, Londoners have been able to do without the classic ringing from Big Ben, while one of the UK's most classic landmarks has been renovated.

Among other things, the clock hands have been restored to their original color.

For many years, the bells and paving were painted all over with many layers of black paint, something that experts believe is due to the fact that they wanted to hide the effects of the pollution in London in the 1930s.

The Parliament's Architecture and Cultural Heritage Team, together with a team of color experts at Lincoln University, have succeeded in recreating the original color with the help of historical color analyzes, contemporary illustrations and archive photos.

The hands on the famous watch have now been painted Prussian blue and the watch has red, white and blue details.

- Working with this watch is an opportunity that you only get once in a lifetime, says watch mechanic Ian Westworth.

The renovation of Big Ben was planned to be completed this year but extends due to the pandemic now until 2022.
