The number of fixed cameras is far too few, according to Johan Forssell.

And the number needs to increase significantly according to the party.

- Sweden is the country in Europe that has the biggest problems with gang crime.

That there are only 361 cameras with the police, it is remarkable, and here we must make a proper investment to simply be able to prosecute more criminals, says Forssell to SVT's Report.

I also want to use traffic cameras

The moderates are therefore presenting a proposal in their forthcoming budget to give the police the task of increasing the number of surveillance cameras - to over 2,000. Exposed areas must be prioritized in both the number of cameras and in the rate of expansion, it is stated.

The party believes that enhanced camera surveillance would both prevent and solve more serious crimes.

In addition to this, the Moderates also state in their draft budget that they want to appoint an inquiry to make it possible for the police to take part in other actors' camera systems, for example the Swedish Transport Administration's cameras for congestion tax.
