07 September 2021 Emanuele Impellizzeri, the 38-year-old originally from Catania, was released from prison only last June and was arrested by the Polstrada along the Autostrada del Sole near Florence Impruneta on charges of killing Chiara Ugolini, 27, in the apartment that girl shared with her partner in Calmasino di Bardolino, in the province of Verona.

The man, who had tried to escape on his motorcycle, is accused of aggravated voluntary homicide. Already convicted of robbery, crimes against property and resistance to a public official, he was in probation with the social services in the house on the ground floor of the three-storey building where the victim also lived.

At the time of the crime, Chiara was alone in the house: she had returned home from work at 2 pm and her failure to return to service in the afternoon had triggered the concerns of her boyfriend, who discovered the body.

It seems that a few days earlier Chiara had got involved in a violent quarrel that broke out between Impellizzeri and his partner, during which the man would have sworn to make him pay. After the arrest, however, this detail was not openly confirmed by the killer. The man limited himself to telling the investigators that the crime had occurred on Sunday because "he knew he would find Chiara at home".

Even on what prompted the woman to open the door to Impellizzeri despite knowing his irascible and violent character, at the moment the hypotheses of the investigators remain vague. No obvious evidence of forced entry would be found.

The man, who on his Facebook profile was depicted with the effigy of the Duce, made partial admissions about the incident, confirmed by the bloodstained clothes and the scratches on his face that the victim inflicted on him in a desperate attempt to defend himself . But he closed in an impenetrable silence about the reasons for the gesture.

The same companion of the man is unable to understand what has happened and has limited herself to saying to journalists that she no longer considers the murderer as her husband. "From today - he repeated - that is no longer my man". The prosecutor Eugenia Bertini ordered an autopsy on the body of the young woman, who has a slight bruise on her head. It will also help to understand how she died, given that no weapon was found in the house and the murderer spoke generically of a push to the ground.

Chiara is described by everyone as a sunny girl, a travel lover, who after graduating in Padua worked in one of her partner's father's clothing stores. "A positive and always smiling young woman" underline her friends, recalling her commitment as coach of the Palazzolo children's volleyball team.
