President Jair Bolsonaro has once again made a name for himself.

The latter cast doubt on the elections in Brazil, declaring in front of a few hundred thousand supporters gathered for a great day of mobilization in Sao Paulo that he could not "participate in a farce".

The far-right president, who all polls predict a defeat in the October 2022 ballot against left-wing ex-president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Lula, has again called for a change to the current electronic voting system, alleging that it resulted in fraud.

"We want clean, democratic elections with a public count of the ballots", declared the head of state.

"I cannot participate in a farce such as the one promoted by the president of the Higher Electoral Tribunal".

Against electronic voting

Bolsonaro assures without proof that electronic voting, in force in Brazil since 1996, is tainted with fraud and that he should have been elected in the first round in 2018.

It requires that each electronic vote be validated with a printed receipt in order to allow a recount of the votes in the event of a dispute.

A system, which according to specialists precisely favors fraud.

These statements come in the context of a day when Jair Bolsonaro tried to mobilize crowds of sympathizers in the big cities of Brazil in order to obtain support in the showdown he is delivering to the Supreme Court.

It opened various investigations against him, in particular for disseminating false information.

"Tell the thugs that I will never be taken prisoner," he challenged.
