If yesterday the PSOE put the ball on the roof of the PP, today Pablo Casado passes the hot potato of the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) to Pedro Sánchez.
The leader of the main opposition party has demanded from the Prime Minister "an immediate meeting" to talk about the reform of the Judiciary, because, in his opinion, "what the PP" asks of the Executive is "the same" as the EU and that the Constitution and, therefore, believes that the PSOE can not be denied.
Casado has pointed out that "the CGPJ can be renewed today and the only condition is that the judges are chosen from among themselves."
But he has demanded that the legal reform for future Council elections be approved first.
The requirement of the PP is that the rule is fully processed in the Lower House, but negotiating in parallel the renewal, with the current model, of the members of the CGPJ.
That is, Sánchez should not only commit to change the law and allow the judges to elect 12 members of the CGPJ, but the PP would not be enough with the word given.
The
popular
would not vote in favor of the new composition of the Council until the new law was approved.
"If before the renewal is approved we approve the law, we will have solved the problem. Why before? Because we no longer trust the Government," Casado said.
In fact, the president of the PP has come to assure that "Sánchez does not tell a truth or the doctor."
For Casado -who has assured that he "subscribes" to Lesmes's speech-, the PP is not to blame for the blockade of the CGPJ because it has done "everything in its power", and the Executive is launching a "campaign of smear and propaganda to be able to control the only power that they do not control. "
"We are willing to renew it tomorrow, we do not block, but we demand the same thing that the Constitution and the EU say. Why does Sánchez want to control the judges and does not comply with what Europe says to Spain?"
"In a month and a half we can proceed with the renewal" of the CGPJ, Casado continued.
"And we will talk [later] with the judicial associations about how the electoral process would be so that the judges can choose the judges" in 12 of the 20 council members.
At an informative breakfast organized in Madrid by Nueva Economía Fórum, Casado assured that the last time he spoke with Sánchez was about the migration crisis, and now, "after that offer that we have made today to renew the CGPJ and the rest of the organizations constitutional laws, that meeting [pending] should be held immediately, "he stressed.
