The young man tried for throwing flour in the face of the leader of rebellious France (LFI) Jean-Luc Mélenchon was found guilty on Tuesday by the Paris Criminal Court but "exempted from punishment".

Neither Jean-Luc Mélenchon, nor the young man or their lawyers were present at the hearing.

During the trial in early July, the prosecutor claimed 140 hours of community service (TIG) against Tilou M., 27, a 27-year-old sovereignist YouTuber.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon had not lodged a complaint and had not become a civil party.

The incident took place on the sidelines of a demonstration against the far right in Paris last June.

While responding to the press, the boss of LFI deputies and declared presidential candidate of 2022 had received flour on the face.

The scene was filmed by an accomplice of Tilou M. and broadcast on social networks.

Tilou M.'s accomplice, Sami H., was also found guilty and released from sentence.
