Justice The Civil Guard reveals that it had a mole among the ETA lawyers
Process The legal front of ETA sits on the bench in the last macro-trial of the terrorist gang
Inmates and former prisoners of ETA have
declared, in the trial of the alleged
legal apparatus
of the gang, that
Arantza Zulueta
and other lawyers
who were exercising their defense informed them "about the political situation in
the Basque Country
", but they have denied that they transmitted them communications from the terrorist organization.
The National Court has resumed this Tuesday the trial of "summary 13/13" with a session in which several former ETA militants convicted of their membership in the gang have testified.
This procedure is directed against eight alleged members of
Halboka
, the legal arm of the gang, which Zulueta allegedly led, for whom the
Prosecutor's Office is
asking for 19 years in prison for joining a terrorist organization as a leader and for depositing weapons and explosives.
For the rest of the accused, among whom is the lawyer
Jon Enparantza
, the Public Ministry requests between 7 and 12 years in prison for their alleged membership of ETA or collaboration with the gang.
Juan Mari Jauregui
, who died last Friday and was previously excluded from the procedure for health reasons,
was also prosecuted in
the case.
During the session this Tuesday,
Ana Belén Egües
and
Juan Lorenzo Lasa
,
Txikierdi
, former spokesmen for the group of prisoners "of the Basque cause" (EPPK) and former ETA militants, have reported that Zulueta, who served as their lawyer, he reported on the political news of the Basque conflict together with other lawyers from the collective of lawyers, known as KT.
Likewise, they have denied that this legal body was linked to ETA and that Zulueta and other defendants transmitted them communications related to the terrorist gang.
They have told about the EPPK or group of prisoners before the court chaired by magistrate
Angela Murillo
that was created in 1995 to defend the claims of "all Basque political prisoners, not just those of ETA."
Specifically, Egües and Lasa have confirmed that they held a meeting, managed by Zulueta, in the Granada prison with a representative of Penitentiary Institutions to "put on the table" the following demands: recognition as political prisoners, their reunification in the Basque prisons and the freedom of the seriously ill and of those who had served three-quarters of their sentence.
Report on prisoners
The activities of the EPPK, as both and other witnesses have affirmed, were "carried out" by the group of lawyers or KT, to which Zulueta and other defendants belonged, with "continuous communications through letters and calls."
Regarding the main defendant in this trial, they have explained that she gave them a report on the situation of all the prisoners of the EPPK "who passed without problems through the control and management of the prison" in which Lasa was located.
David Pla
, a former member of the ETA political apparatus, and
Jon Salaberria
, arrested along with
Francisco López Peña
,
Thierry
, in 2008
have also testified
, who have assured that they are not aware that the group of lawyers offered information to the gang about fled members , possible objectives to attack or efforts to collect the revolutionary tax.
In the same way, Pla and Salaberria have denied that they had an appointment in
Mimizan (France)
in May 2018, days before a meeting between Jon Enparantza and an alleged member of ETA in the surroundings of the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd of
San Sebastián
.
In addition, Salaberria has described as "implausible" the possible direct connection of the accused lawyers with the terrorist gang.
