Almost five months after the start of the transition, Chad is preparing to set up its National Transitional Council, a sort of Parliament for the duration of the transition.

Applications for membership have been open since Monday, September 6.

Candidates have one week to submit their files to the committee responsible for selecting future CNT members.

But still many questions arise as to the selection criteria.

Be at least 25 years old, be of Chadian nationality and in good health… These are the conditions for submitting an application.

But above all, the interested parties must be proposed by twelve different colleges.

Among which ;

political parties, civil society or even military and professional corporations.

we navigate by sight

", recognizes a politician.

If tracks have been mentioned such as the representation of the provinces, the criteria have not yet been clearly defined.

"

There is no partisan work

", defends a member of the committee who gives himself until the end of the month to select the 93 members of this future assembly.

The last word will go to the president of the CMT, Mahamat Idriss Déby, in accordance with the transition charter.
