In Brasilia, Jair Bolsonaro first flew a helicopter over the

crowd of his supporters

dressed in yellow, carrying banners demanding the closure of the Supreme Court.

In a quick speech, he targeted his attacks on the judiciary, which ordered the arrest of several Bolsonarist activists, accused of preparing anti-democratic acts on the eve of Independence Day.

“

We can no longer accept that there are political detentions in our Brazil.

Either the head of that power takes action against the members of the court, or that power may be the subject of actions that we do not want.

We have here in the place of the Three Powers sworn to respect the Constitution.

Those who do not respect it must fall into line, or leave.

 "

Jair Bolsonaro went in stride to Sao Paulo, to participate in another demonstration.

But he also said that he would convene a meeting of the Council of the Republic on Wednesday, a council that could declare a state of defense or a

state of siege

in the midst of

an institutional crisis
