A 17-year-old young man lost his life in a road accident on Friday, September 3 in Gambais (Yvelines).

He was cycling on the D179 departmental, certainly to get to class, when he was struck from behind by a motorist, reports

According to the first elements raised on the spot, the teenager was with a friend who was not injured.

The young cyclist would not have donned a fluorescent vest and did not have a signal light, but the gendarmes have yet to confirm this information.

The driver in custody

The driver, who reportedly did not see the victim on the road, was taken into custody.

Screening tests for blood alcohol and drug use have been carried out.

When the emergency services arrived shortly after 6 a.m., the cyclist was in cardiopulmonary arrest after a heavy fall.

He had been resuscitated and then transferred in a very serious condition to a Parisian hospital.

He finally succumbed to his injuries at the end of the day, indicates the Paris daily.
