The

European Court of Human Rights (ECHR)

has dismissed two appeals filed against Spain for the actions of the agents of the

National Police Force

during the referendum of October 1, 2017.

Legal sources have confirmed to Europa Press that on May 27, the

Strasbourg-

based court

agreed to disregard the petition of the appellants, two individuals living in the

Bages

region

(Barcelona).

The same sources have specified that both appeals were filed on August 4, 2020 and that they were studied by a single judge who adopted the "final" resolution and against which there is no recourse.

Last May, the

Provincial Court of Barcelona

refused to investigate the commanders responsible for the National Police in Catalonia for their management during 1-O, considering that "there is no indication of the existence of a specific instruction to act on October 1 of 2017 with forcefulness or to use a greater violence than the essential one ".

The Court dismissed the appeals filed against the decision

of the Investigating Court number 7,

which in April 2020 refused to investigate the controls of the device.

In the car in which he agreed to the decision, he distinguished between the top commanders and the chief inspectors of each riot control nucleus or

UIP,

middle commanders.

In this sense, the judges pointed out that in the separate pieces in which the actions of the agents in each electoral college are investigated, the possible responsibility of these middle managers should be assessed.
