The focus house, which is a thirteen-storey residential building, was built in 1962 in connection with the construction of a new center on the site, when Malmberget's then center was to be demolished due to the mine expanding.

- Now there is one to two weeks of demolition work left, then it is down, says Kalle Eneri's project manager at LKAB for the social transformation.

Will not be rebuilt

Malmberget has been demolished and moved several times due to the mine's expansion, but this time the town will not be rebuilt.

What remains is a green area that people can walk around and remember Malmberget's changes since the end of the 19th century when the community was built up thanks to the large ore deposit in the area.

- When we have finished demolishing here, we will make a park out of the area, there will be different activity areas, says Kalle Eneris.
