- By moving the accommodation to Burlöv municipality, we ensure good housing capacity in the region, says Fredrik Bengtsson, regional manager at the Swedish Migration Board, in a press release on Monday.

The property owner for the Swedish Migration Agency's temporary accommodation for asylum seekers, Centria in Malmö, has terminated the authority's lease.

- We have instead, after negotiation in the rent committee, been offered to use Arlöv Park Hotel in Burlöv now that the property in Malmö is to be sold, says regional manager Fredrik Bengtsson.

Higher standard

According to Fredrik Bengtsson, there are several advantages to locating accommodation at Arlöv Park Hotel.

- For an equivalent rental cost, the Swedish Migration Agency is offered housing with a higher standard.

The accommodation is also well located geographically as nearby Malmö is a major entry and exit point in the migration process, says Fredrik Bengtsson.

The new accommodation in Burlöv will be run under the Migration Board's own auspices with its own staff on site and security guards.

SVT Nyheter Skåne has asked Amelie Gustafsson (M), chairman of the municipal board and municipal councilor in Burlöv, for a comment.
