(Fighting New Coronary Pneumonia) Indonesia's increasing number of cases drops to a new low in the past April, and then "social activity restrictions" are extended

China News Agency, Jakarta, September 6 (Reporter Lin Yongchuan) Indonesian officials announced on the evening of the 6th that the implementation period of the "social activity restriction" epidemic prevention and control measures that will expire that day will be extended again.

Among them, Java Island and Bali were extended to the 13th of this month, and regions outside the two islands were extended to the 20th of this month.

This is the eighth time since July this year that the country has extended the implementation period of "social activity restrictions".

According to a report from the Indonesian Ministry of Health on the same day, there were 4,413 new confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia in the country in the past 24 hours, and a total of 4,133,433 confirmed cases; 612 new deaths and a total of 136,473 deaths.

This is the country's lowest record for the number of newly confirmed cases in a single day in the past four months, showing that the implementation of the "social activity restriction" measures for more than two months has achieved obvious results in epidemic prevention and control.

In June of this year, Indonesia's second wave of COVID-19 rebounded. The number of daily confirmed cases reached its peak at nearly 60,000, and the number of daily deaths exceeded 1,000 for more than 40 consecutive days.

The government of this country began to implement the strictest "social activity restrictions" since the outbreak of the epidemic on July 3.

As the epidemic slows, although “social activity restrictions” are still being implemented, the country has lowered the prevention and control levels in many places, and further opened up restrictions on activities in public places including shopping malls, restaurants, religious places, sports facilities, and tourist attractions .

However, all public places are required to increase the inspection of vaccination cards through mobile phone applications.

Officials from the Indonesian Ministry of Health have repeatedly reminded the public not to forget to wear masks, wash hands frequently, protect social distancing, and avoid gatherings because of the decrease in confirmed cases, because "if the epidemic prevention regulations are not followed, the epidemic may rebound again."
