“The UK government joins the Economic Community of West Africa, the African Union, the United Nations, the European Union and other partners who have condemned the forceful ouster of Guinean President Alpha Conde,” the statement said.

The British Foreign Office called on "to immediately release the president and begin a comprehensive peaceful dialogue to reduce tensions, prevent further violence and adhere to democratic principles, including the rule of law."

Earlier, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said that the Chinese authorities are demanding from the rebels in Guinea to immediately release the President of this country, Alpha Conde.

The head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, also condemned the attempted military coup in Guinea and called for the release of Condé.
