In the night from Sunday to Monday, a meteorite was seen in the sky of Brittany.

On Europe 1, a resident of Brest testifies to having seen the sky become "all white, as if there were lots of lightning at the same time".

French scientists confirm the fall of a meteor.

A particular spectacle was observed in the sky of Brittany, this Sunday, around midnight.

A meteorite was seen falling off Finistère.

French scientists confirmed on Monday the presence of a meteor after numerous testimonies evoking a "light as in broad daylight" followed by an "explosion".

Images were thus captured by cameras in Normandy and Brittany.

Dozens of testimonies in France and in the south of England have already been collected by Fripon, a network observing these phenomena, or posted on social networks.

It would be a meteorite.

The luminous object is in any case clearly visible on the webcam of the port and the Arzal dam (#Morbihan), near # Vannes # Bretagnepic.twitter.com / nMyz53Nq3i

A zenith in Morlaix

"I closed my shutters to go to bed and, suddenly, the sky which was a little orange because of the lights became all white, as if we had lots of lightning at the same time", explains Amandine, a resident de Brest joined by Europe 1, witness to the phenomenon.

“In a few seconds the sky became like daylight. It stayed like that for a few seconds and after that the sky became exactly as before,” she continued.

According to its trajectory calculated from the cameras, "the meteoroid came from the south, crossed Cornouaille passing the zenith of Morlaix to finish its course in the Channel", explained to AFP Priscilla Abraham, space scientist sciences of Rennes, in Ille-et-Vilaine, which is participating in this sky monitoring project.

Its size was not immediately specified.

"A bit of the end of the world!"

"It was creepy, you would have thought it was a bit of the end of the world! Fortunately, nothing happened in Brest itself. We just had the lights or heard noises. But it was. stylish! ”smiles Amandine. These shooting star phenomena can be observed all year round. The watch-sky network, which has a Twitter account, encourages people who have witnessed these phenomena to fill out a questionnaire declaring what they have observed and indicating the direction and time.
