The International Center for Government Communication announced the launch of the tenth session of the International Forum for Government Communication, with the participation of 79 speakers, on September 26.

The forum is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and completes a full decade from the date of its convening.

The forum activities will be launched at the Expo Center Sharjah, which constitutes an exceptional event in the UAE and the region as the most prominent international event that brings together senior figures from leaders of change, officials, artists and Arab and foreign media, to determine the role of government communication in comprehensive future development plans, especially after the pandemic that the world witnessed. and posed a great challenge to the major countries of the world.

The two-day forum, under the slogan “Lessons of the Past, Future Aspirations,” brings together 79 communication experts from 11 Arab and foreign countries, to discuss crisis management mechanisms using innovative and contemporary communication methods, and define the future of government discourse to the public and the size of the partnership that brings them together in decision-making. He concluded 31 activities distributed between seven dialogue sessions, five inspiring speeches, seven training workshops and 12 interactive platforms, focusing on historical experiences in government communication, the most important past stations, up to the present and the accompanying transformations, to anticipate, after 10 years of its convening, the future of government communication regionally and globally.

This came during a press conference organized by the International Government Communication Center, yesterday, at the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Complex, during which the Director General of the Sharjah Government Media Office, Tariq Saeed Alai, and the Marketing Director of the Sharjah Government Media Office, Alia Al Suwaidi, spoke, in the presence of a number of officials from government departments and bodies. In the emirate, representatives of the forum's sponsors, and a number of local, regional and international media representatives.

Director-General of the Sharjah Government Media Office, Tariq Saeed Alai, said: “Two basic facts that form the core of the next session of the International Forum for Government Communication must be emphasized: The first fact is the relationship of media professionals within the country with the forum, which goes beyond reporting news of its activities to reach the level of partnership in the event industry. and formulating its culture and orientations, while the second fact confirms the importance of the readiness of the media and communication teams for the changes and transformations the world is witnessing in various sectors.”

Alai stressed that the future of government communication is made and not waited, formulated and does not come by chance, as it is a product of merging the lessons of history and learning from live experience, explaining that the past few years have placed the media and government communication teams in front of huge entitlements, some of which may be fateful, indicating the importance of permanent renewal in tools and methods of communication and maintaining public confidence.

The forum organizes five inspiring speeches: “Human Communication” by Bahraini media and filmmaker Omar Farouk, “Cyber ​​Security” for the Chief of Cyber ​​Security of the UAE Government, Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al-Kuwaiti, and “New Platforms.. Specialized Messages” for the CEO and founder of Fanbytes” by Timothy Armo, “The Truth in Government Communication Discourse” presented by Egyptian researcher and YouTube content maker Ahmed El-Ghandour, and “Investing in the energies of youth” presented by Lebanese writer and director Remy Akal.

The forum will hold seven dialogue sessions: "Conspiracy theory... Can it be hacked?", "The effectiveness of communication messages between behavioral science and big data", "Storytelling... what it is and its role in discursive impact", and "Government communication tools... Is it still useful for tomorrow?”, “The Immunity of Collective Awareness… Methodology and Influence”, “Entertainment Content… Who Watches the Other?”, and the last entitled “Who Determines the Rules of the Game… Social Media Platforms or Content Makers?”

The forum will witness a series of training workshops, including "Managing the Content Industry on Social Media" and "The Podcast Industry... Accompany your audience wherever they are", presented by specialists from the New Media Academy and "Sky News Arabia".

The forum will be preceded by the activities of the Communication Program for Students (COMMS), which includes five workshops organized remotely through the “Webex” video communication program during the period between 19 and 23 September.

Forum plan for the next 10 years

The conference witnessed the unveiling of the forum's plan for the next ten years. Tariq Saeed Alai announced that the forum will, in the coming years, allocate a day a year for government communication and media, launch the professional license for government communication project, issue a refereed scientific journal in the field of government communication, and develop indicators To measure the impact of communication on the positive practices of the public, establish the Arab Network for Government Communication, issue a guide to crisis management through government communication, and issue a guide to professional controls and ethical standards in government communication.
