On Saturday alone, a number of visitors of just over 2,500 people was noted.

- It has been all above expectations in this way when it is the first time we hold this event, says Ingrid Rogblad, who works with the project Richer Garden at Studiefrämjandet, which is one of the organizers.

Ingrid Rogeblad works with projects that will benefit biological diversity in Swedish gardens.

Pie competition and lectures

In addition to activities such as changing cuttings, a costume competition with an English garden theme, a pie competition and exhibitors, lectures have also been held on various topics during the weekend.

Everything from rose care, tree pruning and beekeeping to the role of gardens in improving the situation for biodiversity.

- We have gardens in Sweden that correspond to an area as large as Blekinge.

Today they contain very hard-cut lawns, and I work to spread the knowledge that it is perfectly okay to let the flowers bloom and leave some debris in the corners to benefit insects and pollinators, says Ingrid Rogblad.

Important meeting place

For a long time it was unclear whether the garden party would end at all, due to the pandemic, but a month ago the organizers Gränsö Castle and Studiefrämjandet decided to run.

And the need to meet other "garden nerds" is great.

- It means a lot.

You meet people and mingle a bit and shop, it's social, says Babsan Kide from Västervik.
