It is a trip to thank the countries that welcome the Afghans evacuated by the United States and their allies from the Kabul airport at the end of August.

Anthony Blinken is due to meet with Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, as well as with the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The secretary of state is expected to visit one of the refugee reception centers.

After the withdrawal of the American soldiers from Afghanistan, it is in Doha that the American diplomats are.

It is from there that consular affairs and diplomacy for Afghanistan will be managed.

If the State Department assures that the channels of communication are still open with the Taliban, it is not known if Antony Blinken will meet with Taliban representatives during his stay in Qatar.

The head of American diplomacy will then travel to Germany, where he will visit the base of Ramstein, which also served in the evacuation operations.

It will also take part in a meeting devoted to the situation in Afghanistan, with the participation of twenty other countries.
