Good evening,

Marie Lisa Kehler

Deputy head of the regional section of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

  • Follow I follow

What a weekend. Pure sunshine. Somehow one was already set for autumn inside. Some have already carried their summer clothes into the basement and pulled out grandma’s hand-knitted socks. The return of the warm weather was celebrated extensively by around 30,000 techno and electronics fans who came to the stadium pool in the past three days. Woolen socks really weren't appropriate here. The partiers tended to wear tight outfits. Finally the pool party was invited. The “World Club Dome Pool Sessions” were allowed to take place in the stadium pool under strict Corona conditions. The Frankfurt Administrative Court had previously given the green light for the series of parties. It is rated by many observers as a test project for other events of a similar size.

But is it possible to create a good mood at a party where you have to wear a face mask even when dancing? It can, as our author Gregor Scheu assures us. He mingled with the partying and watched for us how Corona changed the party culture. Photos of the event and an overview of what organizers of major events like this one should be prepared for can be found in the printed edition of the FAZ or at www.faz.net.

It has long been clear that there should be a central memorial to commemorate the victims of the attack in Hanau. But the question of what such a memorial might look like has so far remained unanswered. 118 artists took part in a competition announced by the city of Hanau and submitted their models. Five of them made it onto the shortlist. They can be seen in a showcase exhibition in the Kulturforum on Freiheitsplatz until September 18. In addition to representatives from politics, members of the victims' families also sat in the specialist jury that made the selection. Hanau's citizens should also be asked for their opinion. According to Lord Mayor Claus Kaminsky (SPD), there will be no classic vote. At the end of the process, the magistrate should submit a draft to the city council for approval."We will not favor a draft that has clearly failed the relatives or the citizens," assures Kaminsky in an interview with the FAZ.

In Frankfurt, the departing department heads will be recalled on Wednesday. Among them is City Councilor Markus Frank (CDU), who has been responsible for the areas of security, economy, fire protection and sport for the past twelve years. In an interview with the FAZ, Frank tells what it's like to vacate the office after twelve years in politics. Stephanie Wüst (FDP) will in future be responsible for the economy, the parliamentary group leader Annette Rinn, also FDP, for security and order. Mike Josef (SPD) will take care of the sport. Frank looks back on the past few years, names successes, such as securing the future of the Osthafen, but also setbacks, such as the developments in the station district. And he gives an insight into his very personal understanding of how agreements in politics can succeed. His maxim is: For the most important things in the city, “you need partners”. Whether they are party friends or political opponents. "You get nothing if you attack your partner."

In addition, a crime against an entrepreneur will probably be tried again in 2009.

The riddle of the “Mord im Odenwald” is still not resolved beyond doubt +++ the play “The Girl On The Train”, based on the psychological thriller of the same name, can now be seen as a German premiere at the English Theater in Frankfurt +++ Mushroom season started.

We won't reveal where the best collection points are.

But we will name the next dates when you can roam through the woods with so-called mushroom advisors.

Stay healthy,

Marie Lisa Kehler
