March 27, 2014: A war in court for a Scratch and Win.

More than a real case of gambling addiction, a family quarrel.

The protagonists are an 84-year-old grandmother and her granddaughter, who was a minor at the time.

It happened in Pavia, when in 2009 the girl and her boyfriend, together with their grandmother, go shopping in a shopping center and stop at the bar to buy a ticket.

Luck kisses the three: 500 thousand euros.

The grandmother then appropriates the Scratch and Win and arguing that the two boys, being minors, could not collect the winnings.

But the couple had bought the ticket.

Thus the judicial affair starts. The elderly woman, accused of embezzlement before Judge Luigi Riganti, is sentenced to 10 months on probation and must pay a fine of 5 thousand euros for court costs and damages. And the judge also ordered the return of the winnings to the two boys, with the 500 thousand euros that had been collected and deposited in a non-interest bearing current account, entrusted to an accountant in custody.
