Free transport on trains is a demand that the police have been carrying for a long time.
Olivier Hourcau, deputy general secretary of the Alliance union: “
The police were waiting for a strong social measure, in particular on transport.
There are many regions where there is free regional transport for the police.
But this is the first time that our minister has announced this total free service for the police.
Like the gendarmes for whom it exists as a soldier.
"
Free only when the police officer is armed
Free on condition, the police must carry a weapon and report to the controller.
Olivier Hourcau justifies this advantage for the service provided to travelers:
"
It is because we bring added value to the trains, that is to say that today everywhere in the territory, there will be armed police officers who will be in the trains who will be able to intervene.
He will have to report and the controller knows that in the event of a problem, he can call the police.
Beyond that, daily safety will be ensured in the trains.
"
The measure will be fully funded by the State, there will be no loss for SNCF.
The Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin will present Monday, September 6 to the police unions, the terms of this agreement concluded with the SNCF.
