05 September 2021 Luigi di Maio's second day of mission in Qatar. The Foreign Minister today visited the camp for the first reception and transit of Afghan refugees in Doha. "Entire families evacuated from Afghanistan thanks to this international solidarity are safe and can guarantee a better future for their children", the Farnesina owner wrote on Facebook after his visit.
"During the meetings with the highest Qatari authorities, I informed them that in the next few days we intend to relocate the Embassy in Kabul to Doha", added Di Maio.
"We discussed the effects of this Afghan crisis", added Di Maio. "Meanwhile, even today there were other deaths on the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan due to an attack. With Qatar, the countries bordering Afghanistan and the main international actors, in addition to building a common path to support the Afghan people, we must intensify initiatives to combat terrorism. We need the utmost commitment on the part of all ".
