12 April 2019The death toll from the explosion in a crowded open-air fruit and vegetable market in the Pakistani city of Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan, has risen to at least 16 dead and about thirty injured. This was announced by the Pakistani police.   



The explosion hit the Hazarganji neighborhood, which is mostly Shiite. the police said that, from the first findings, it would be an artisanal device (IED).   



No claims have been registered so far. 



Quetta is the capital of the province of Balochistan, crossed not only by conflicts between Shiites and Sunnis but also by a group of separatists who are asking for greater autonomy and to be able to obtain a greater share in the distribution of oil and gas that the region is rich in.
