It is said that the president was detained by armed special forces forces after a coup d'état in the capital of Guinea, West Africa.

Major foreign media reported that a large-scale gunfight took place near the Presidential Palace in Conakry, the capital of Guinea, on the morning of the 5th, local time.

Gunfire was also heard in the center of the capital, and armed soldiers were seen moving.

In particular, AFP reported that the soldiers claimed to have secured the recruits of President Alpha Condé based on the video they obtained.

They say they are detaining President Condé and will invalidate the constitution and close the border.

In fact, a photo of armed soldiers who appear to be from a coup d'état with President Condé sitting on a sofa in the center has been released.

Reuters also reported, citing a local source, that the Guinea Army's elite special forces, led by Mamadi Dumbuya, a former French Foreign Legion, were behind the coup.

Mamadi Dumbuya said on state TV that she was disbanding the government and that she and her supporters would soon form a transitional government, Reuters reported.

On the other hand, Guinea's Ministry of Defense said the president's bodyguards and troops had subdued the attackers.

Foreign media reported that the whereabouts of President Condé and whether he was detained have not been specifically confirmed.

The United Nations condemned the coup attempt.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said: "We are monitoring the situation in Guinea very closely.
