Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, said: "The digital economy and artificial intelligence have a major role in supporting development efforts in the country, and through a series of qualitative initiatives within (the fifty projects), we establish new opportunities in the national economy to enhance the status of the country. The state is an open global laboratory for its applications, and contributes to establishing a solid ground for a diversified flexible economy capable of opening promising prospects in the disciplines of digital economy and artificial intelligence applications for the next fifty years.”

He added: "We are working to have a programmer in every home during the next 10 years, as adopting innovative economic models that accommodate new global trends is in the interest of supporting the diversification and sustainability of the national economy, enhancing its competitiveness, developing an active investment environment in the country, and governing data privacy through a project (The Data Law), which is considered the gold standard for the governance of the digital economy sector, enhances confidence in the new and promising applications of the digital economy, and consolidates the country’s position as a global destination for programmers, supports innovation opportunities in all vital economic sectors, and gives a positive impetus to the knowledge and innovation economy, which reflects positively on achieving goals (Fifty projects) to enhance the country’s position as a global destination for talent.”

As part of the digital economy initiatives within the "50 Projects", the scholars announced the launch of a project of 100 programmers every day, which aims to enhance the country's position as a global capital for programmers and specialized talents in its various languages.

The project adds 3000 programmers per month to the workforce in the national economy of the UAE, by granting a set of facilities and incentives to attract these talents, and facilitate the establishment of programming companies in the country. The goal is to raise the number of programmers in the country from 64,000 programmers to 100,000 within 12 months.

It is a project that aims to develop talents and upgrade skills, especially for programmers, in addition to attracting programming competencies from all over the world to make the country a global capital for programming with all its qualitative applications.

The digital economy initiatives also include the new “Emirati Personal Data Protection Law” as part of the “Fifty Projects”, which constitutes a basic pillar for any country that wants to achieve global leadership in the fields of the digital economy, and ensures the privacy of individuals’ data while promoting growth opportunities for the private sector.

The Data Law gives individuals the freedom to control the way their personal information is used, stored and shared, and provides sound governance for data management as the wealth of the future, in a way that supports the preservation of the privacy of individuals and institutions in the country, and combats the illicit profit of some parties from illegally trading this data.

The law, which was prepared in cooperation with government and private sector institutions, supports start-ups, small and medium enterprises as well as large companies, provides a balanced approach that enables the private sector to grow and innovate in conjunction with ensuring the privacy of users, supports data transfer, and guarantees the rights of individuals to privacy, including rights to cancel Knowing, accessing and correcting data.

The UAE Personal Data Protection Law also aims to be a gold standard for the governance and opportunities of the digital economy, ensuring individual privacy and at the same time enhancing the growth opportunities available to the private sector.

It gives individuals the freedom to control the use, storage and sharing of their personal information.

The Personal Data Protection Law is characterized by an ideal balance between continuous innovative development and the protection of individual privacy, and is characterized by several main axes, including the flexibility of data transmission across borders, which contributes to the centrality of the UAE as a global country living in the heart of digital globalization, and listening to the visions of global, regional, local, national and emerging companies to ensure The law will contribute to the development of these companies' systems within the state.

Among the most prominent matters covered by the axis of personal privacy is the right to be forgotten, which provides the individual with the right to request any company to which the law is applied to delete his data completely, and the right to information, which provides the consumer with the right to be informed in the event that the system of a law-enforced company is breached, where he is informed that His data has been violated, and the right to know the data of the individual about the data owned by the companies to which the law applies and he has the right to view it, and the right to correct, which is the right of the consumer to correct the wrong or outdated information.

The law is subject to continuous review and update to remain a global standard in the field of data governance, and to enhance the UAE's leadership in activating and creating opportunities for the digital economy.

As for the global programming summit (PyCon), which will be held in the second half of 2022, it will be the largest in the Middle East in the field of programming and the digital economy, bringing together experts, specialists and interested people from all countries of the world.
