Kiev is already working on the issue of organizing a return visit by US President Joe Biden, said Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba.

The minister expressed confidence that the American leader will visit Ukraine "during his presidency", without giving exact dates.

“Ukrainian diplomacy is already working on the visit of the American president to Ukraine.

I am convinced that during his presidency, Joe Biden will visit Ukraine, since our country is very important for him and is a very important priority of US foreign policy, "Kuleba said in an interview with the RBC-Ukraine agency, answering the question of when Biden may visit. to Kiev.

The White House, in turn, has not yet published any information about a possible meeting between Biden and Zelensky in Ukraine. In addition, there are no relevant agreements between the parties following the visit of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky to Washington. As Zelensky admitted earlier during a briefing, he forgot to discuss with Biden his return visit to Ukraine.

At the same time, Kuleba noted that when Kiev was entering the final stage of preparing Zelensky's visit to the United States, “indeed, in some places I had to hear that, they say, the White House has no time for Ukraine and for the American side, the trip of the Ukrainian head of state to Washington is not appropriate. time ".

This is how the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry answered a journalist's question how much the White House's concentration on the Afghan issue and the fact that the topic of Ukraine “a priori faded into the background” did harm to the visit of the Kiev delegation.

As Kuleba stressed, the American authorities still "found time" to discuss the partnership between Ukraine and the United States, "despite the tense internal order of the day."

In addition, according to the minister, despite the fact that Biden and Zelensky "paid considerable attention to the issue of Ukraine's membership in NATO," the American leader ultimately only repeated the position outlined by the alliance in the communiqué of the bloc's June summit on supporting Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

At the same time, there was no question of “specific dates,” Kuleba added.

“And, of course, we must work with those European countries, which, when it comes to the untimeliness of our NATO membership, hide their banal unwillingness to irritate Russia with their statements about the insufficiency of reforms in Ukraine,” he said.

"Part of an information campaign"

According to experts interviewed by RT, information about work on a potential meeting between Biden and Zelensky in Kiev, as well as about the results of negotiations between the two leaders in Washington, only confirms that the Ukrainian issue on the agenda of Western countries led by the United States has really receded into the background.

“In Ukraine, they are already preparing for Biden’s visit, when nothing is known about him yet.

Zelensky and his entourage constantly need to talk about something, broadcast something to the media space, create informational reasons.

There is no specifics.

Moreover, Biden does not even suspect about his return visit.

But the current situation clearly characterizes the approach of the Ukrainian side - to be as loyal to Washington as possible and to do even what is not asked for.

Kiev wants to show how grateful it is to the United States and that Ukraine is on the list of priorities for the American side.

But this is nothing more than chatter, "said political scientist and economist Alexander Dudchak in a commentary on RT.

In his opinion, the visit to Ukraine is hardly part of Biden's “immediate interests”.

“The head of the White House has enough headaches even without Kiev, he has problems all over the world, as well as within his own country.

The Ukrainian question is clearly not in the first place for the United States.

The same can be said about Western countries that are in no hurry to take Ukraine into the alliance, ”Dudchak said.

According to him, there is simply no need for Washington and the Western states as a whole to somehow actualize the Ukrainian issue, since the Kiev authorities are doing everything that is required of them without it.

“Ukraine is already doing everything that the West and the United States need in particular, there is no need to even hint there.

This system has been debugged, and just as necessary, the overseers, who are assigned by Washington to every department in Ukraine, issue advisory instructions, ”Dudchak believes.

At the same time, the Ukrainian political scientist, director of the Institute for Policy Analysis and Management Ruslan Bortnik believes that the data on the preparation of Biden's visit to Ukraine by Kiev, given the lack of confirmation from the American side, "looks like part of the information campaign of the Kiev authorities."

“For Zelensky, the visit of the head of the White House to Ukraine would be important in terms of strengthening his position, since then he could say that Washington allegedly supported Kiev once again.

Given the start of Zelensky's activities in the fight for a second presidential term, this would not be superfluous for him.

However, Biden is unlikely to travel to Ukraine this year.

And whether this meeting will take place at all, while in fact, no one knows, despite the loud statements of Kiev, "Bortnik said in an interview with RT.

"Samopiar Zelensky"

The fact that the Ukrainian issue is gradually being removed from the current agenda of the United States and a number of other states is also evidenced by the situation around the Crimean Platform summit in August, which was ignored by the heads of the leading Western countries, analysts say.

This forum was intended to coordinate international efforts "to protect the rights of Crimeans and de-occupy the peninsula."

On the part of the United States, a delegation led by Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm attended the event.

As the former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, Gennady Moskal, noted on the air of the Nash TV channel after the summit, there were “no significant figures” at the Crimean Platform forum.

He also lamented the lack of interest in the Crimean issue in the United States and Europe.

According to the politician, the West believes that Kiev should deal with it on its own.

Even before the summit, the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that, regardless of the level of representation, all countries ready to take part in the summit “become the founders of the Crimean Platform.

“The signals voiced at the summit, and the commitments taken as a result, are equally valid for each state, regardless of who headed the delegation,” Kuleba said on August 19.

At the same time, he promised that the Ukrainian side would attract new states to the format of the "Crimean Platform".

In his opinion, in the future "their number will grow."

Nevertheless, analysts state that the interest of Kiev's western partners in Ukrainian issues is steadily declining.

As Oleksandr Dudchak noted, Western countries really believe that Ukraine should solve its problems on its own, as evidenced by the composition of the delegations that they sent to the Crimean Platform.

“In general, the West now has the following position: if Ukraine wants to bargain for something for itself, these are its problems.

Nobody will help Kiev in this.

These states expressed a kind of moral support for Kiev, so that it does not feel completely deprived, they put a tick for the press, but nothing more.

Real assistance to Ukraine is not included in the priorities of Western foreign policy, ”the expert said.

Ruslan Bortnik has a similar opinion.

According to him, the leaders of Western countries "do not really believe" in the effectiveness of the "Crimean Platform" and other similar initiatives of the Kiev authorities.

“The partners of Kiev did not want to participate at the highest level in the event, which they regarded solely as Zelensky's self-promotion and his attempt to play a political game within Ukrainian society and on the international arena. A number of countries also did not want to aggravate relations with Russia, which considers the "Crimean Platform" as an extremely unfriendly event towards the Russian Federation. But on the whole, such insignificant interest in Kiev's initiative once again underlines the declining relevance of the Ukrainian issue for the collective West, including the United States, ”the analyst concluded.
