Four women and three men were stabbed on Friday while they were just shopping.

The perpetrator, a 32-year-old Sri Lankan, was shot dead by police within one minute of the attack.

Constantly followed by officers in civilian clothes, the terrorist, a sympathizer of the Islamic State, was therefore closely watched by the authorities.

During her press briefing this Saturday, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern had to answer many questions about the judicial past of this individual.

She specified "

that all avenues have been explored to keep him in detention

".

The Mental Health Act singled out

Released last July, the man was convicted in 2018 for possession of a stabbing weapon and planning a terrorist attack.

During his detention, Jacinda Ardern also clarified that he had assaulted guards but no charges had been brought against him at the time.

But some authorities are now pointing the finger at the Mental Health Act, that is to say examining a prisoner psychologically.

What hadn't been done on this individual.

A news which poses a "

big problem

" declared the Prime Minister.

Just like the questions surrounding the deportation of the individual whose government has not yet been able to justify because of legal proceedings.
