go home

In autumn in Shenyang, the sky is high and the clouds are pale, and the sky is clear.

At 11:26 on the 2nd, a Chinese Air Force Y-20 transport plane that took off from South Korea's Incheon International Airport landed steadily on the apron of Shenyang Taoxian International Airport.

On board are the remains of 109 volunteer martyrs.

The heroes who crossed the Yalu River back then returned home with their loyal souls.

71 years ago, the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army, composed of outstanding Chinese sons and daughters, crossed the Yalu River with great vigor and arrogance. After two years and nine months of arduous and bloody battles with the Korean people and army, they won the great victory of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.

"Why is the war banner beautiful and picturesque, and the hero's blood stained her?" During the great war to resist US aggression and aid Korea, more than 197,000 heroic sons and daughters gave their precious lives for the motherland, the people, and peace.

When the special plane entered China's airspace, two fighter jets took off to greet them, escorting the returning heroes in a way unique to the Air Force.

The special plane landed and the "Watergate" was erected on the apron to pay high respect to the returning volunteer heroes. The 109 martyrs finally returned to the embrace of the motherland.

At 12:37, the welcome ceremony for the remains of the Volunteer Army martyrs officially began.

Every time I think about the motherland's golden soup, I often remember the hero's iron armor.

"Song of Thoughts" sounded, and the long and mellow music was filled with mourning, and everyone bowed three times to the remains of the martyrs.

Afterwards, 12 special vehicles carrying the coffins and relics of the martyrs slowly drove out of the airport to the Shenyang Martyrs' Cemetery for the War of Resisting U.S. Aid and Aid Korea.

A hero, like a lighthouse, shines forever through the years.

"The peace and tranquility of the motherland is the blood and flesh of countless revolutionary martyrs. As revolutionary soldiers in the new era, we must pass on the legacy of the heroes." As a salute of the airport welcoming team, a corporal of the army in the northern theater Zheng Kai said.

rest in peace

On the morning of the 3rd, the burial ceremony for the remains of 109 Chinese People’s Volunteers in South Korea was held at the Shenyang Anti-US Aid Korea Martyrs Cemetery.

In the center of the sunken memorial square in the cemetery, a sculpture with the theme of heroes like a mountain and praying for peace stands quietly. 9 tall flower baskets are placed in an arc in front of the sculpture, like the open embrace of the motherland and the people.

Under the ring-shaped wall of famous names of martyrs, there were yellow and white chrysanthemums. The people who participated in the ceremony stood solemnly and cherished the memory of the heroes.

At about 10 o'clock, the military band played the "Missing Song" and the ceremony officially began.

Under the escort of PLA soldiers armed with guns, soldiers of ceremonies escorted volunteer soldiers' coffins into the scene slowly, and the audience played and sang the national anthem of the People's Republic of China.

Sun Shaocheng, Minister of the Department of Veterans Affairs, delivered a memorial to the volunteer martyrs. All the staff bowed three times to the volunteer martyrs. 27 salute soldiers fired 12 shots, paying high respect to the heroes.

The mountains and rivers are all right, and the hero's soul is back.

With the host's "spirit", "Missing Song" played again, the soldiers of ceremonies lifted the martyrs' coffins, walked around the square for half a week, and slowly walked towards the burial palace.

The audience stared at the coffin of the martyrs, and silently bid farewell to the heroes.

The heaven and the earth are heroic, and the ages are still awe-inspiring.

Salute, the people's hero will be immortal!

Participants in the ceremony lined up to pay tribute to the martyrs and pay homage to the famous wall of martyrs.

Wang Chunjie, who has worked in the Martyrs' Cemetery in Shenyang for 17 years, stood silently on the side of the famous wall, staring at the coffin of the martyrs.

"Every experience makes my heart surging." Since we welcomed the first batch of the remains of the volunteers in Korea in 2014, Wang Chunjie has participated in the burial of the remains of the martyrs for 8 consecutive years. She said, "The walls are full of famous names. The names of the martyrs are always remembered by the motherland and the people. As the guardian of the martyrs, I will protect the heroic spirits of the martyrs and pass on the red gene in my work."

Bear in mind

In the name of the country, we respect the martyrs, remember the history, and respond to the people's voice of advocating heroes.

From 2014 to 2020, China and South Korea have followed humanitarian principles, in a spirit of friendly consultation and pragmatic cooperation, and have successfully handed over the remains of 716 volunteer martyrs in South Korea for 7 consecutive years.

This year is the 8th handover carried out in accordance with the consensus reached by China and South Korea.

The Ministry of Veterans Affairs commissioned scientific research institutions to collect DNA information on the remains of volunteer martyrs that have been welcomed back, and established a DNA database of volunteer martyrs to help identify the remains of volunteer martyrs for their return home and find relatives for the martyrs.

Continue to increase the planning, construction, repair, management and maintenance of martyrs memorial facilities, set up a martyrs memorial day, hold a martyrs memorial ceremony every year, and incorporate the protection of heroes and martyrs into the party and national meritorious commendation system... Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, a series of strong The country’s actions have led the whole society to form a noble fashion of admiring and learning from heroes.

In every fiery loyal soul, there is an indomitable national spirit.

"Last year, the coffins of my relatives returned home with the national flag in this way. I hope these martyrs can also find their relatives." Liang Runquan, grand nephew of the seventh batch of returned volunteer martyrs Liang Baiyou, attended this year's ceremony.

Liang Baiyou died in 1951.

In July 2020, with the support of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs and other departments, through a variety of technical comparisons and confirmations, the identity and kinship of the martyr Liang Baiyou were finally determined.

The heroic soul returns, and the aura will last forever.

In the great journey towards a modern and powerful socialist country, only by remembering the legacy of the martyrs can we create a better future; only by inheriting the heroic spirit can we achieve the great cause of revival.
