China News Service, Beijing, September 3 In response to the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee’s report on the so-called "EU-Taiwan Political Relations and Cooperation", the National People’s Congress Foreign Affairs Committee issued a statement on the 2nd stating that the content of the report goes far beyond the EU’s unofficial activities in Taiwan. The scope of exchanges and cooperation seriously violates the one-China principle and undermines China-EU mutual trust and cooperation.

The National People's Congress of China firmly opposes this.

The statement pointed out that Taiwan is part of the sacred territory of the People's Republic of China.

The one-China principle is the universally recognized norm of international relations and the universal consensus of the international community, and is the political basis for the establishment of diplomatic relations and the development of bilateral relations between China and Europe.

In various documents and statements issued by China and the EU, the EU reaffirmed the one-China principle.

As one of the important institutions of the European Union, the European Parliament should abide by the relevant commitments.

The statement emphasized that the Taiwan issue is China's internal affair and involves China's core interests.

The determination of the Chinese people to realize the reunification of the motherland is unshakable.

We urge the European Parliament to fully understand the high sensitivity of the Taiwan issue and be cautious in its words and deeds on Taiwan-related issues to avoid affecting the political foundation of China-EU relations and mutual trust between the two sides.
