"The London [draw] bridge has come down" ... When "Premier" Boris Johnson hears the slogan, from the mouth of a royal emissary, he will understand that the moment has come feared by the vast majority of British people, who will not give credit to the eyes and ears when the news announce the inevitable when the moment comes: "The queen is dead."

A leak to the 'Politico' portal has anticipated how the preparations for the hitherto top secret "Operation London Bridge" will be, brought up to date for the Internet era. The operation includes the

temporary "blackout" in social networks

of all the accounts of the royal family (which would be dyed black with a brief announcement about what happened), the ten days of mourning, the flags at half mast and the display of the coffin in the Palace of Westminster. She would be there for three days for her compatriots to come to say goodbye, before being buried in the crypt of Windsor Castle, next to the grave of her husband Philip of Edinburgh.

Buckingham Palace has not officially responded to the leak.

The queen, for her part, leads her life as a widow in Windsor Castle, at 95 years of age and with a much more hectic schedule than was presumed after the death of Philip of Edinburgh, with her costumes increasingly flowery and

without the slightest indication of brittleness

in your iron health.

Royal pundits such as Angela Levin have meanwhile criticized the leak as an example of bad taste: "It is horrible and cruel to go public with secret plans about the Queen's death. Where are our morals?"

But the British seem more amused than outraged by the scrupulous details - with all the pomp and rigor of English protocol - that have circulated in recent hours, including parallel plans for the

relief

of Prince Charles in the so-called "Operation Spring Tide. ".

The first to know the "descent" of London Bridge, outside the Buckingham area, would thus be the Prime Minister in a short phone call.

There would then be a

"cascade call"

to all the Cabinet ministers, the members of the Queen's Privy Council and the heads of the Armed Forces, who would give orders for the salutes of honor throughout the country within a few hours to throughout "D-Day".

The specific calls to the ministers would briefly repeat this message: "We have just been informed of the death of Her Majesty the Queen. Discretion is requested."

Shortly after, an email would be sent to all ministers and political officials with a similar content: "Dear colleagues. It is with great sadness that I write to inform Reina of the death of Her Majesty."

The most striking aspect would be the temporary blackout of the portal of the royal family and the royal accounts on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

A laconic statement confirming the death of the queen would remain for several days on a black background.

All non-urgent content and

retweets would be prohibited,

unless the head of government communications stipulated otherwise.

The official notification to the media would come through the Press Association, the "premier" would speak from Downing Street and Prince Charles would address the nation on the first

newscast

at six in the afternoon, hours before being proclaimed as the new king. the next day by the so-called Council of Ascension to the throne.

All members of the council should wear rigorous black and may not wear medals or decorations.

After the proclamation of the new monarch, Parliament would meet in special session at noon to pay honors.

At 3:30 pm on the afternoon of the day after, the "premier" would go with his entire cabinet to Buckingham to hold an

audience

with King Charles.

It would be strictly forbidden to bring wives or husbands.

Operation London Bridge also includes during the first hours the celebration of a tribute ceremony in St. Paul's Cathedral that would be presided over by the prime minister and that curiously should

seem "spontaneous",

according to the documents leaked by 'Politico'.

Regardless of where the death occurred (the queen has moved with her entire entourage to Windsor Castle since the start of the pandemic), the body of Elizabeth II would temporarily rest on the second day in the Throne Room of Buckingham Palace, which it would

serve as a burning chapel.

On the third day, King Charles would begin a

tour

of the United Kingdom that would take him to his beloved Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The fifth day would be specially marked in the calendar for the transfer of the mortal remains to the Palace of Westminster, seat of Parliament and currently under construction.

The coffin would be there from the sixth to the ninth day, receiving visits from thousands of British people for 23 hours a day (with a 60-minute interval for cleaning and maintenance).

The tenth day would finally be reserved for the funeral at Westminster Abbey, followed by the

burial at Windsor Castle.

In contrast to Operation Forth Bridge, adapted to Covid restrictions following the death of the Prince of Edinburgh, Operation London Bridge apparently does not include a reference to the pandemic.

The forecast gives way this time to the hope shared by millions of Britons.

Long live the Queen!
