The recycling center closes on Sunday and the submission of items and clothes on 30 September and the recycling market at the end of October.

And only in December will the new facility "Risslan" in Porsödalen open.

Melancholy after 27 years of operation

Project manager Jenny Widmark is saddened that the business will close after 27 years of operation.

- It is clear that there are mixed reactions.

It is not fun that something you like should be closed, but it feels very exciting that we will open a new facility at Risslan in December with a new ramp and a sustainability house, she says.

"Wait with the recycling!"

But for just over two months, Kronan will not receive gadgets, clothes and books for recycling.

Instead, Luleå residents are referred to the facilities in Antnäs, Sunderbyn and Råneå, which are located between 1.5 and 30 km outside the city.

- We do not have as high a capacity to receive recycling at our other recycling centers and therefore we encourage people to wait to hand in their belongings until we have opened the recycling center at Risslan.

For those who still want to hand in things during the autumn, it will be a longer distance to drive, but they still have the opportunity to hand in stuff.

"Lots of elves submitted"

In 2021, lots of Santa Clauses have been submitted and the ÅVC management is therefore planning a market in October on Köpmantorget in Luleå so that the Santas will have new owners.

- Some start decorating for Christmas as early as the first of December, so we can not wait until Risslan is open.

There are many who submit elves.

They enter a battle stream throughout the year.

Why?

- I think many people get hungry for something new when they clean away Christmas and then you hand in the Santas and I think it's good.

Then others can use them during Christmas, says Jenny Widmark.
