A school administration in the French city of Nancy suspended one of its teachers from work, after he posted a post on his Facebook account praising the Afghan Taliban, and the Public Prosecution filed a lawsuit against him.

The French newspaper Le Figaro reported that a mathematics teacher named Khaled published a post on August 16, coinciding with the Taliban's takeover of Kabul, in which he said, "With determination, faith and unlimited courage."

Subsequently, the school administration issued a decision to arrest the teacher, and to submit a copy of the publication as evidence against him to the Public Prosecution Office in the city of Nancy.

According to the newspaper, Public Prosecutor Francois Perrin considered that the image of the publication was sufficient to open a lawsuit against Khaled on charges of praising terrorism.

France and the European Union classify the Taliban movement within the terrorist regulations, and the Anatolia correspondent stated that the French law imposes a fine of up to 100,000 dollars, and imprisonment of up to 7 years for "defenders of terrorism" over the Internet.

Since last May, the Taliban has begun to expand its control in Afghanistan, with the start of the final stage of the withdrawal of foreign forces from the country, and within 10 days it controlled almost all of the country, including the capital, Kabul.

On August 31, the movement imposed its control over Kabul airport, after the last US soldiers withdrew from it on the same day.
