Floods claim dozens of lives in 4 US states

More than forty people have died so far in the northeastern United States of America due to severe flooding caused by Hurricane Ida.

About a dozen people died after they were trapped in the basements of buildings in New York by water.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy also announced that most of the 24 dead people in his state were stuck in their cars as the water level rose.

Murphy expressed his "sadness" for those who lost their lives in the hurricane.

US President Joe Biden and senior officials have warned that the United States needs to be better prepared for the climate crisis.
