A partially shredded painting by British artist Banksy is up for sale again.

The work of art is to be auctioned next month, as the auction house Sotheby's announced on Friday.

Three years ago the work was surprisingly partially shredded by a mechanism built into the frame - just moments after it had been sold for a million pounds (around 1.2 million euros).

A day later, the graffiti artist confessed to the prank.

Since the shredding campaign, the picture has been called “Love is in the Bin”, previously it was called “Girl with Ballon”. The work is one of the most famous motifs by the graffiti artist Banksy and shows a girl reaching for a heart-shaped red balloon. Sotheby's contemporary art expert, Alex Branczik, emphasized that Banksy did not destroy the work of art with the shredding campaign, but created a new one. The shredded picture is "the ultimate Banksy work of art and a true icon of recent art history".

In March, a Banksy painting was auctioned for a record £ 16.75 million (€ 19.4 million), with proceeds going to the UK health service. "Love is in the Bin" will now go under the hammer on October 14th, the estimated price is between four and six million pounds (about five to seven million euros).
